tbr/w: july + koreadathon

I can’t believe that it is already the end of the month. This month flew by fast and I’m not really prepared for it.

This month is going to be slightly crazy, as it’s my last month off contract and I will be trying to get everything I possibly can done during the days when I have the most amount of free time. I’m also participating in two different readathons, and the amount of shows premiering this month is slightly insane.

Watch my tbr/w on my yt channel here.

+ the books +

As I mentioned, I will participating in two different readathons this month. The first one, Koreadathon, actually starts on the 29th, but I figured that I would just combine it into this post instead of posting it as it’s own separate thing.

There are four challenges for the Koreadathon, and here’s my picks for each one:

  1. Group Book: Wicked Fox by Kat Cho

  2. Read a book published before 2018: Angelfall by Susan Ee

  3. Read a book translated from Korean: Please Look After Mom by Shin Kyung Sook

  4. Read a book set in the past: Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake

The second readathon I will be participating in is the Reading Rush (formally Booktubeathon). I’ve been watching others post about this for years, and I’ve never even attempted to do anything with it. This year, I’m excited to be participating. It is the last week before I start back to work, so this will be my final push and final time to devote a lot of time to readathon before normal adult life gets in the way. I am still debating on my TBR for this, I’m not home and I think some of the challenges would work with books I own and want to look at my shelves before solidifying my picks. I will probably post a special post/video of my TBR closer to the event, so if you are interested check back.

+ the dramas +

There are a couple of dramas that I’m currently in the middle of that I want to try to finish, or that they will finish airing this next month and those are:

I think the last time someone counted, there are 19 dramas starting this month. Nineteen. That’s an impossible number of dramas for me to try to get through even just to check out, so I’ve narrowed it down to a couple of dramas that I’m interested in. Some are up in the air if there will be options for me to find the subs to watch them and I will probably have to reassess what I’m actually going to be able to start, but if these are the one’s that I’m thinking of watching:

June 5 Love Affairs in the Afternoon-평일 오후 세시의 연인 // Channel A (Up in the air on who’s subbing it)

I had gotten through about half of the original jdrama version of this before Viki pulled it off their site. Although I didn’t get to finish it I enjoyed it. I also really love Lee Sang Yeob.

June 6 Watcher-왓쳐 // OCN (VIKI IS SUBBING AN OCN!)

I very much lean on the side of slice of life or crime thrillers as opposed to romcoms, and so when I saw that OCN was going to have a drama out I knew that I would probably add it to my list. I was also highly impressed with Seo Kang Joon’s performance in Are You Human Too that I’m excited for this one (although, if it’s an OCN it’s hard for me not to like it, I’m an easy sell).

June 13 Hotel del Luna-호텔 델루나 // tvN (Up in the air. If I had to guess Netflix)

I’ve been interested in this one right out of the gate. It has a creepy fun paranormal vibe and I’m here for it and the cast. Fingers crossed subs are easy to find (and on time)!

July 15 I Don’t Love You Yet-僕はまだ君を愛さないことができる // Fuji TV (VIKI!!)

This was a last minute add to this list that I didn’t know about until literally the day that I started writing this list, but the Viki gods have granted us a surprise on air jdrama. Who do I need to send my offerings to? How do I make sure this happens more?? This is based on the Taiwanese drama In Time With You.

June 22 Moment at Eighteen-열여덟의 순간 // tvN (Viki)

This is one of those dramas that I want to check out, but don’t know how I’ll feel. The teasers look cute, so I want to check out at least the first couple of episodes.

June 26 My First First Love 2-첫사랑은 처음이라서 2 // Netflix

I enjoyed the first season (part, Netflix. It wasn’t a season it was just half of the series cut off weirdly), so I’m going to be finishing out the rest of the show. It was cute, and the episodes are shorter than your standard kdrama. And of couse I have to watch our Jisoo!

June 26 Melo is My Nature-멜로가 체질 // jTBC (Viki)

I really have no clue what this show is about, but I’m kind of intrigued now that I’m seeing this teaser? At least enough to watch the first couple of episodes.

With so many new dramas premiering and two readathons , it’s going to be a pretty hectic month, so I won’t guarantee I’ll get around to everything listed, but I will at least make and attempt or keep my eye out on the shows.
