KPOP Haunted House/Scare Pranks
If you don’t follow kpop, or you don’t follow it past listening to the music you are missing out on some prime content. One of those things is the scare pranks. I like these over the other “hidden video” pranks that are a thing in kpop entertainment. They tend to be nicer cause it’s usually the members just hyping themselves up because of the unknown, as opposed to being blindsided with a real-life issue. They scream, they get over it, no real tears shed. So here’s a list of some of my favorites.
-First on the list is Monsta X. I’m sure you’ve seen Hyungwon’s “Thank you for your effort” gif floating around the internet. Now is your chance to watch the full episode and experience Jooheon’s meltdowns in all their glory:
-This one doesn’t have the best quality, but it’s kind of hard to find video from it now. Back in 2011/2012 JYP teamed up with the theme park Everland, which did a special Horror Maze. 2PM and Suzy did a lot of the promos for it, which included them actually going through the attraction.
-We did an episode about SEVENTEEN for the podcast, and one of the videos I stumbled upon while doing research was the episode of Going SEVENTEEN where the boys have to play tag. In a dark building. They all have body cams, and there are surprises along the way. This is also a two-parter, so don’t miss out on the second episode to experience Minghao and the clown.
-Another classic is EXO’s Showtime The Horror House. Again, the boys have to go into a building and have cameras following them. Screaming commences:
-Show Champion also used to do interviews where the groups performing had to come into a dark room. Most of the time the groups would be freaked out over nothing (one would “feel something touch their leg” and a chain reaction would occur), or a member would tell a ghost story and the staff would then mess with them. I had to include this Double S 301 one.
-There’s also the EXID one, where Hani basically has a meltdown:
-Yet another video I found from researching a group for the podcast. This time A.C.E was doing a video over at Zany Bros where they did a ghost prank. It’s a good one.
-I know this list is mostly haunted houses, but they are my favorite. This MAMAMOO on is great because they literally spend the time just hitting all the ghosts.
-I’ll end the list with this small clip from Hit The Stage. Although the whole scare is with a lot of different idols, Shownu’s part is the single best part:
